Book I

Written and illustrated by 11 year old Will Mathison, "The Last of Kal" is the first book in a series about adventures in the land of Liolia. Speilton is all alone after his village is destroyed. Left with nothing but a small blue egg and instructions to go North into unknown lands, he begins a journey that changes his life forever. Along the way he meets challenges, finds new friends, and realizes he had more strength and courage than he ever imagined. All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to cancer research.

Will Mathison is an author, illustrator, director, public speaker, and philanthropist best known for "The Battles of Liolia" series he began at 10 years old.

In the 4th grade, Will Mathison was inspired to raise funds in honor of his friend's little brother who was diagnosed with Leukemia. Over the following several months, Will wrote and illustrated the story he had been developing in his imagination since reading "The Chronicles of Narnia" in the 2nd grade. In the 5th grade, Will completed "The Last of Kal" which is the first of 5 books in "The Battles of Liolia" series and donated all proceeds to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. So far, Will has been able to raise over $7,000 for cancer research in honor of Carter and all of those battling cancer.

By the 7th grade, Will had written and illustrated "The Inferno of Erif" and "The Curse of the Verse", the 2nd and 3rd books in "The Battles of Liolia" series. The 4th book, "The Rise of Nuquam", was published in 2015 and expands the mythos of the fantasy world of Liolia. The series concluded with the publishing of the final book in "The Battles of Liolia" series, "The War for Caelum", at the start of 2020. Once again, all proceeds from these books are donated to cancer research organizations like Relay for Life in honor of his friends who have lost people they love to cancer.

In High School, Will continued developing and writing short stories and was published in the Huffington Post. He has also spoken at over a dozen schools and community events to motivate other students to find and pursue their passions. Will now attends the University of Georgia where he studies International Affairs and Economics. He is very appreciative of the support and encouragement from his teachers, family, and community.

While fighting rages in Liolia, Speilton and his friends must learn to accept this new world while searching for an opportunity to save their soldiers from the ever-growing power of Nuquam. Book IV in The Battles of Liolia series is a quest for hope. All proceeds from the sale of these books will be donated to finding a cure.

The Curse of the Verse: Book III

Although the centuries old war with the Calorians is over, danger is lurking in the land of Liolia. There have been disappearances and strange occurrences throughout the country. The Versipellis must be involved.

It's up to Speilton to stop these shape-shifting dream spirits and to save Milwaria from imminent demise.

Book III in the Battles of Liolia series is a story of loyalty and persistence. All proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Relay for Life in honor of those fighting against cancer.
